Chestnut Hill, MA. November 27, 2017 –Samet & Company PC today announces that Jay Kessler has joined the board of directors of the College Diabetes Network (CDN). Mr. Kessler is managing shareholder of public accounting firm Samet & Company, PC and brings to the role both his extensive leadership experience and a personal connection to CDN’s mission.
Established in 2012, the College Diabetes Network provides peer-based programs that allow young people with Type 1 diabetes to thrive in school and in the workforce. The organization aims to connect and empower people who live with Type 1 diabetes through on-campus chapters. It also provides resources to prepare high schoolers with Type 1 diabetes and their families for the transition to college, and aims to help young professionals navigate internships and first jobs. Effective January 1, 2018 Jay will be the organization’s Treasurer and a member of the Audit Committee.
Mr. Kessler has spent more than 30 years at Samet. He learned about the College Diabetes Network at the 2016 Small Business Association of New England Innovation Awards, where he saw Christina Roth, CEO and founder of CDN, accept an award on its behalf. The organization’s mission struck a chord with Mr. Kessler in part because his daughter lives with Type 1 diabetes. He has participated in events organized by the JDRF, an organization that funds research with the goal of curing the disease. Since 2014, Mr. Kessler and his family have raised over $40,000 for the JDRF through their annual walk.
“I’m delighted to join the board of CDN because I believe in its mission and the impact it has on the lives of young people finding community and staying healthy through the transition of living away from home for the first time on college campuses.” said Mr. Kessler.
